What does ‘love your neighbor’ look like? Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan. His sacrificial, timely response showed love and compassion and it’s needed nowadays more than ever. The battered women and children in our community receive timely assistance from the Shasta Women’s Refuge. For 30 days, they can be housed and helped in recovery by this service agency. At the end of 30 days, though, they must leave and find other housing. At this crucial juncture, the options are limited as to where these hurting/recovering families can go. Some, being out of options, decide to return to the batterer because, “at least the kids will have a roof over their head and some food, even if I must suffer occasionally.” If the Church were able to step in here and provide homes, rooms, shelter for a season and be Family to the broken, we could see this awful scenario turn into a bright new day. Can you step up, or do you know of a solution at this time? We need 9 homes in the coming 9 months. We also need people who can serve in a support role to those homes, providing meals, transportation, childcare, etc. Please fill out the online application and we will contact you.
