May 2009

April showers greetings and May flowers anticipations!

Prayer answered, and GRANTED!

Last month we asked you to pray for favor with the potential GRANT through our county's Health and Human resources division.  Well, we learned mid-month that we had been awarded the grant for the start up of SafetyNet - Praise the Lord!  We want to bring the love and service of the King to the city, and the powers that be are wanting to grease the wheels.  How fulfilling to officially partner in a tactical way with established community agencies.  Our initial meeting with the grant oversight group felt like we're all on the same team.  Immediately afterwards, I headed down to City Hall to present SafetyNet to 25 key leaders in the social service arena.

Pray again!  Federal grant opportunity for Project 18

Days after our SafetyNet Launch luncheon, I got a call to come aboard a partnership for a federal grant being written by a pro grant writer.  Three agencies are involved: Youth Violence Prevention, North Valley Catholic Services and Redding Transformation.  The goal is better juveniles through mentoring and intervention.  The proposal is strong and the letters of support came in from all sides of the community leadership spectrum.  We will keep you posted.

Look, in the sky.  It's a bird, it's a plane  no, it's a ¿helicopter full of 10,000 eggs?

Our WeR1 band is back in action and we were invited by Bridge Community church, who organized the Easter egg drop, to play at this HUGE community event.  Over 2500 bodies converged on the Simpson drop-zone.  The peace and presence of God was very noticeable (until the eggs dropped and pandemonium broke out).  But the band never sounded better and the weather was perfect.  WeR1 also played at the LYNK reunion/testimony night April 23rd at River City Church.

Our next gig is at the Convention Center on May 19 during the Homeless Connect event, which runs from 10 to 4pm.  We have been given permission to erect a prayer tent there.  If you'd like to take a shift on that day praying for people and uplifting the brokenhearted or downcast, call us!  We have also been invited to play at the Relay for Life event in prime time.  Wouldn't it be amazing to have a prayer tent for healing at this National Cancer Walk fundraiser?  So many are struggling with cancer and we can lift them up and pray for healing!

Netsound's good vibrations

Anderson City Parks and Rec awarded Netsound (our new company) the bid for their summer concert series, and now many others are considering us for sound contracts.  I have submitted a bid to provide sound for the Airshow this fall when the Blue Angels come to town.  This past weekend we had our first “gig” in the Anderson River Park with the public schools.  As we arrived, the organizer came over venting some stress about a helper who had backed out at 5am that morning and a swollen foot.  Before touching any equipment, I had a chance to pray on site with her and cover her day, which went well after all!  I do sweat more at this than the regular “connect and mobilize work,” but I'm having a ton of fun so far.  Pray for the bids, the helpers, the coordination and the development of this “business-as-ministry.”

Turtles, Domes, Destiny and the Kingdom

That's what I shared with Neighborhood Church in Chico on April 19 (you'll have to listen to the message to get it: http://www.ncchico.org/messages/sundaydomeservice/message4-19-09.mp3 ).  John Freeborn came with me and we had a wonderful time and a great response!  That church is carrying a passion for the supernatural and vision for transforming the city of Chico.  Later that week I had the opportunity to sit down with Larry Lane for lunch and Gaylord Enns for coffee.  Both are Chico area fathers who have agreed to father me and work together toward transforming this NorCal region!  We anticipate hosting a pastor's event with Gaylord in October.  Destiny Fellowship allowed me to share in their service the following week and a strong response was registered there as well.  The Stirring (a fellowship in Redding) asked if I could be part of a community panel on transformation at their upcoming conference as well.  It is so nice to walk in harmony within the community!

Powerful Kingdom INPUT

The CDs of the LYNK training series are ready for consumption with a weighty line up of speakers and 7 paradigm-shifting sessions.  Yes, we have DVDs coming as well, but this CD set is ready now and very affordable at $25 for over 500 minutes of training!  You will love the practitioner input and the fresh testimonies of those implementing the teachings.  You can order yours at our website, www.weR1net.net,  or call 222-9371.

This was a busy month for Karen, preparing the LYNK CDs, finalizing the grant, and producing the Track Record.  (You all are supporting and I want you to know we are getting our money's worth from this dear saint.)  If you haven't read the articles yet, I can personally attest that, even though I knew the stories, I still got goosebumps on the Grace in Motion article and the follow-up story from Anderson.  Our best paper yet!  See the middle section insert about SafetyNet to grasp a better understanding on how God has us connecting and mobilizing.  Pick up a copy or check it out online: http://www.wer1net.net/TrackRecordSpring09.pdf.

GRACE abounds in May

May 9 is the day for Transformation training, impartation and bringing God's grace to the streets of Anderson.  The whole day is packed with action, so don't miss out.  There's a concert at Bruce St, training, lunch, a prayer-blitz in the streets, and it's all free.

Grace In Motion will rock on May 16.  We plan to fix up a home in the Garden Tract for a wonderful widow, Pat, who has spent her life serving the needy in social services.  Pat recently suffered a stroke and is wheelchair bound, but is as chirpy as ever!  She's been living with her son and daughter-in-law but now needs some space of her own to develop her arts ministry.  Meet us at Sequoia School at 9am on May 16.

The number 5 symbolizes GRACE, and this 5th month marks our official 5th birthday and we are filled with HOPE.  I was told recently that HOPE is defined as JOYFUL ANTICIPATION.  That sums up how we are entering this next season.

Thanks for praying and supporting,

Jon and Natalia Thompson, for the team
