Your Home for Christ
Redding is known for its high rate of broken families. We are second in the
nation in divorce. Transformation is desperately needed at the family level
of our society. It's all well and good if we behave decently at work and seek
to honor God 'out there,' but if it's not happening at home, what have we
gained? We need a revolution of Godliness in our homes. We must see our men
lead their homes in the things of God. We're in desperate need of cleansing our
homes of worldliness and filth, thus sanctifying them for God's use. He can
touch our homes and relationships, and bring restoration! Remember, nothing is
too hard for Him!
Many of our family members have yet to be reconciled to God through Christ. This is a most difficult reality to face and operate in (especially around holidays.) This is where 'two by two' comes in. Joining with other transformationalists, you can pray and find support. You may also find that in your family member's neighborhood are some neat people signed on with this vision and you can introduce them to your family, do some things together and tag-team
the work.
Your first assignment, (men) is to learn how to be a priest in your own home and lay down your life for your family. They live with you and see you at your worst. Our sincerity is tested here. If you are serious about transformation in our city, it must have its finest effort and greatest expression in the home.
Women, you are a sercret weapon! Your attitude can be Christ-like daily.
Your homes can be sweet or bitter just simply depending on your disposition.
Ask God for strength and vision for making your home a beachhead for transformation.
Family devotions, a simple worship time, taking a walk together, all these are simple ways to keep the family unit unified. Our children hang in the balance. They could either learn these truths about being a church in a region by watching us and seeing our example at home, or they will have to learn them second hand through training later in life.
I see Redding becoming a refuge for the family, a place where transformaion and healing are taking place right inside the main institution of the city - the family.
"as goes the family, so goes the church. As goes the church, so goes
the city."
