Meet Joe (not his real name).  9 months ago, he basically loathed his job, they even laid him off occasionally.  Morale at work was down and people did not enjoy the place at all.  The boss was making the wrong decision all the time and Joe was fed up.  Then something happened; God showed him that this was his mission field.  He was to love those around him, and pray for those in authority over him.  At first he was sheepish about this, and spent a week being shy.  Then he realized, “This is getting me nowhere, the place is darker and darker, and I am being disobedient to God.”  So the next day, he approached the boss, humbly asked how he could best pray for him and the workplace.  The boss was a bit shocked, but opened up.  Another brother in Christ joined Joe and they prayed each day for the place.  Eventually, the boss began to mention that he had started going to church, and that he was reading his bible.  The guys took courage and hosted a BBQ to share God’s love over food with the co-workers.  They told them that they had been praying for each one, and that they wanted God’s best for their lives and for this workplace.  The atmosphere I the workplace began to shift.  People were coming into Joe’s workspace to talk about prayer needs they had.  The love and Light was palpable now.  The Kingdom of God was coming into that workplace and the lives of those around it.

Now, think about it.  There are a finite number of workplaces in town.  A finite number of neighborhoods, campuses, sports teams and government agencies.  If Joe’s environment can change through prayer, blessing and Spirit-led action, so can yours!  Since there is only a finite number, this means that it is plausible to believe that every environment can be adopted and targeted for grace, by those placed there.

What is your sphere of influence?
Who are the other Christians
in your neighborhood,
at work,
at the gym?
Start by praying,
then praying together,
then follow the trail
as the Lord shows you
the next step to take.
